WE ARE A COMMUNITY OF CARING INDIVIDUALS

By Fran Randolph

The Village at Kentlands and Lakelands is the primary program in our community that serves residents who are 55 years of age or older.  And we need your help.

Numerous members of our community are at a higher risk for severe illness from the pandemic.  On the positive side, most have remained Covid-free because they stay home, wear masks in public and keep their distance from others. On the negative side, however, the pandemic has caused a major loss of freedom: freedom to move around at will, to socialize with others, to visit with family, to travel and so much more.  As a result, many are feeling lonely, bored, isolated and depressed.

The Village has been hard at work trying to provide safe support services that will enhance independence.  We create, virtually, both social opportunities for networking and cultural events for intellectual growth.   We offer an informative website about our services and programs, a monthly newsletter that covers important themes, monthly articles in the Town Crier and Lakelands Leader on topics relevant to seniors, and a Facebook page that connects viewers to a number of interesting resources.

But we need to do more. This is a critical time for the Village. We are seeking your supportso that we can expand the number of virtual programs and events, increase our membership and provide more services.

As anyone who has ever lived in the Kentlands and Lakelands will agree, we are a community of caring individuals.  We know we can count on you. Thank you for your support in helping us to ensure that our senior residents are taken care of, especially during this difficult time.

You can mail a check made out to the Kentlands Community Foundation and add VKL on the lower left corner and mail it to:  Village at Kentlands & Lakelands, c/o Jean Mocarski, 217 Booth St., Apt. 213, Gaithersburg, MD  20878.  Or you can make a secure credit card donation on our website at https://www.villagekentlandslakelands.org.
